 Privacy Policy

If only all web sites made it this easy

We have created this privacy policy because we value the trust that our viewership has placed on our web sites and we recognize that our viewers have an absolute right to keep their personal information private.   This statement discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the World Wide Web site located at www.SecurityChatX.com, www.SecurityForumX.com, www.InfoSysSec.com and www.SecurityNewsPortal.com (the "InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com Sites").

The Philosophy Behind Our Privacy Policy

First and foremost our Privacy Policy is quite simple to state :

  • We don't care who you are
  • We don't want to know anything about you
  • We don't want to store information about you
  • We don't sell information about you to Third Parties

It just doesn't get any simpler then that....

Cookies

InfoSysSec & SecurityNewsPortal  -  These two web sites DO NOT set cookies to administer their sites or to gather broad demographic information.  It doesn't get any more private then that does it !

SecurityChatX and SecurityForumX  -  These two web sites do set cookies in order to allow the user to customize the look or functions of the web sites.  They do not serve any other function.

Outside Third Party Stats PackageWe do use an outside third party to provide statistics on our web traffic.  They place a cookie on users computers in order to provide us with data that helps us to identify the type of web browsers, screen sizes and country of origins for statistical purposes and to help us when designing our web sites to be compatible with the greatest number of visitors. None of the data generated by those statistics are compiled with a specific reference to a specific user. These statistics are simply aggregated and presented to us in a summary.

Registration Forms

InfoSysSec & SecurityNewsPortal - Membership on the InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com Site is NOT forced on viewers prior to them enjoying the features offered by our web sites.  We do not ever ask you for contact information (e.g., your name, address and e-mail address) and demographic information (e.g., your birthdate) because frankly we don't care who you are or where you are coming from..

SecurityChatX and SecurityForumX  -  These two web sites do allow registration for users to enjoy all the features offered by those sites.  This allows the users to customize the look or functions of the web sites.  They do not serve any other function.

We do not use any registration data for maling list or for any other purpose.  We do not disclose your contact and demographic information to other third parties.   The only purpose served by the registration process is to make your return visits to SecurityChatX.com or SecurityForumX.com as enjoyable as we can make it.

Online Surveys

At times our web sites might run online surveys or voting.  These surveys are always optional and are strictly done for fun or laughs with no ulterior motive behind them.    The results of the online surveys ONLY show the result of all the voting and NEVER show or record the actual vote placed by an individual ( frankly because we don't care ).

Contests

At times InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com may run contests.  If ever we ask for contact or demographic information it will ONLY be used to get the prize to the winner.  We are NOT in the business of using contest scams to build up mailing list to sell to advertisers.

Message Boards, Chat Rooms, Polls, and Community Tools

InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com provides many venues for member interaction and community, including message boards, chat rooms, online polls, and other tools. In some cases use of such tools (e.g., chat rooms and message boards) may reveal a user's member name or e-mail address and may permit users to publish certain personal information (e.g., Web page links) on the InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com Site.

This is a situation where it is the user's responsibility to be cautious about what they post in a public message forum or in a live chat.

In all cases, users affirmatively choose to expose or place this information in public areas of the InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com Site, and thereby agree that such information may be viewed by or forwarded to anyone. Users who do not want this information to be publicly available should not post such personal information about themselves in a public forum.

Member Feedback & Questions

We DO NOT bother to store feedback or emails that users send to us.   We have enough junk filling up our limited email space and so we delete these emails as soon as they have been responded to or read.   We have no interest in keeping an archive of your emails as we can not think of a legal or legitimate reason for us to do so.

However,  we do make use of the YAHOO.com mail services for handling our email ( because we are cheap and they provide a free email virus disinfection service ).  We cannot speak as to how YAHOO.com handles the messages that we have deleted.  That is something you would have to look to Yahoo.com's Privacy Policy for further information on THEIR retention policy for deleted emails..

Occassionally a user will send a HOT TIP to SecurityNewsPortal.com's SNPMarq.    If we use the 'hot tip' to produce a news story we may only use your first name or the more anonymous ' an SNP regular visitor ' to identify that the tip was received via our mail box.   We will absolutely NOT post your name or handle with any association with a news article.   This is our way of ensuring that your privacy is safeguarded ( and it helps to assure your anonymity in the future for when you want to send us another hot and spicey breaking news story )

IP Addresses / Clear GIFs

Our web sites  DO NOT  track individual IP addresses and we DO NOT use clear GIFs to spy on users.   We DO NOT resort to using either of those methods  to gather demographic information or  User IP address information.   Because FRANKLY WE DON'T CARE who you are or where you are coming from and our stats package provides us with enough aggregated details that we don't need to resort to invisible gifs.

It should be noted that we will ban users that attempt to interfere with the enjoyment and use of this site by other users.  If you attempt to hack, spam, harvest e-mails or run web copiers against our sites we will ban you.

ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURE SCENARIOS

Notwithstanding anything else in this policy, InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com may be required under threat of law , search warrant, subpoena, or court order to provide information regarding visitors.   However, since we do not collect or retain personal or identifiable information pertaining to our viewership this is really a moot point.  You can't give what you don't have.. and since we don't collect or store personal information the cupboard is empty for someone seeking such information.

We believe that communications between members in chat rooms and message forums  ARE confidential.  As such we DO NOT store, read or disclose public communications as the web sites are not configured to record such data.

However, because those services are in some cases displayed in open public forums, your conversation may be 'cut and pasted'  by someone else in that 'public chat' or 'public message forum'.   If the information is truly intended to remain private between TWO PARTIES then we strongly suggest you make use of the 'private chat rooms' or 'private options for the message forums' to ensure privacy.  Like the public areas we DO NOT store, read or disclose private communications.

OFF-SITE LINKS

Our web sites provide links to a great number of other sites. We can not speak for the privacy practices of those web sites and you will have to inform yourself about how those sites protect or abuse your privacy.

SYNDICATED InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com CONTENT

InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com may syndicate its content to and distribute its content through other sites on the Internet. Although you may see the InfoSysSec.com and SecurityNewsPortal.com logo on these pages, your activity on these sites is governed by the privacy statement on the site you're visiting.

OPT-OUT

You have no requirement to OPT-OUT because we never required you to OPT-IN...

THIRD PARTY AD SERVERS

In order to maximize and assure your privacy, our web sites attempt to deliver all banner advertising from off our own servers.  This is done to minimize the data collection carried out by some of these Third Party banner ad companies.   In some cases an advertiser may specifically request that we route the banner ads or have them loaded from off a Third Party's server.   The information is collected only by those third party sites to ensure that our web sites are delivering the contracted number of impression displays requested by the advertiser.  This technology is NOT linked to any information that would allow the Third Party  ad server to personally identify our users.

CHANGE POLICY

From time to time we may revise this privacy notice. If we make a material change, we will post a notice on our web sites.    But be assured that we will not be making changes to our Privacy Policy that would lessen your privacy.    We really don't have any desire on being our brother's keeper or invading your Privacy.
